Below is a brief listing of the sites and activities within and around the Borough where visitors and residents alike can come and share in the feeling of History, Harmony and Hospitality that makes the Englishtown community so special.

 

 

The Village Inn-    Located on the corner of Main and Water Streets, this historic site is where General George Washington signed the order to have General Lee court-martialed.  Doors are open to the public every 4th Saturday of the month from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

 

 

 

Sanford Park- Play football, soccer, baseball, or basketball, or perhaps just let your children play on the swings and slides while you jog on our running track or relax under the trees. Located on Main St., the entrance is directly opposite Pine Street. Leagues are required to obtain permits prior to season. The park closes at dusk.

 
 

 

 

Lake Weamaconk- was restored in 2002 to its past environment where boating, fishing, and picnicking attracted visitors from miles around.  Mayor and Council are proud of the restoration that took place and are committed to keeping this lake a beautiful part of the borough.

Battleview Orchards- One of several fine neighborhood Orchards, Battleview Orchards offers visitors an assortment of apples, peaches, strawberries and pumpkins to pick-right off the tree.  Located on Wemrock Rd, off Rte. 522 in Manalapan.

Englishtown (Old Bridge) Auction- North of town about 1 mile on Rte. 527.  People come from miles around to spend a day at one of the state's largest auction and flea market. Plenty of free parking is available. Come early Saturday or Sunday every weekend through October.   Call (732) 446-9644 or visit www.englishtownauction.com for further information.

Englishtown (Old Bridge) Raceway Park- North of town on Rte. 527. The legendary quarter-mile drag strip is less than two miles from town, and features some of the fastest car in America; some of the events include the summer nationals and numerous swap-meets. Freehold Raceway- Located  on Rte. 9, south of the borough, the raceway features a full card of harness horse racing as well as simulcast racing year-round.

Freehold Raceway Mall --Located on Rte. 9, south of the borough and opposite Freehold Raceway, the mall features over 150 enclosed stores, anchored by Sears, Macy's, JC Penny and Lord & Taylor.  You'll find hours of shopping pleasure, with a wide variety of dining choices in the food court.  Don't forget to ride the "Giant Carousel" before leaving.

Monmouth Battleground Park-This state park, located off Rte. 33W,  features the annual reenactment of the Battle of Monmouth, when historians from across the country setup camp and turn the rolling hills of Manalapan into a fiery artillery range.

Manalapan Park and Recreation Center- Located on Rte. 522 in Manalapan, this community park sprawls with basketball and tennis courts, football, baseball and soccer fields,  a running track, walking paths, a kiddie park with swings and other rides, and other recreational facilities for the whole family.
